Broad-Winged Hawk

In the heat of the day while walking in my neighborhood, I heard a few birds frantically making noise. I peeked through the trees where I thought the noise was coming from. My initial thoughts was some bird must be feeding some babies birds. I thought of getting my drone and flying it to get some area shots. As I looked and try to see where the birds were I saw the back of something big, sitting on a branch in between tree branches and leaves.

I hurried back inside my home to grab the camera. I approach the area where the noise was coming from and I positioned my tripod, locked the camera on the gimbal and turned on the camera. The big bird was sit there as the other smaller birds were still going crazy and making all sort of sounds.

I can see that it was a some sort of bird but his back was too me and I thought it was an owl. I started to focus on the thing when I realized that it was a huge hawk. He turned his head towards me and was watching me very closely. My excitement grew as I also noticed he was clinching to something with a long tail. It turned out to be a rodent. He finally flew to the roof of my neighbor, still holding his supper. I took a few shots more and hurried to my computer to compose and write my first blog for this site. This made my day for I don’t like rodents. Enjoy.
